Communications Authority of Kenya (Application and Payment Information)
The following information is provided to assist with your application for an amateur operators license after completing the Kenya Amateur Radio Examination (KARE). This is applicable for all who are seeking the official amateur radio operator’s licence in Kenya.
- Download and complete the application form (Communications Authority)
- Pay the one-time new licence application fee (Ksh. 1000)
- Pay your annual license fee (Ksh. 2000/year)
- Total fee due is Ksh. 3000

- Once you apply CA will issue an invoice and instructions on how to pay via eCitizen

- Send in an email to CA requesting for a license and call sign: freqlicensingfsm@ca.go.ke
- Attach:
- Completed application form
- Kenya Amateur Radio Examination Certificate (provided by RSK)
- Signed affidavit
- Cover letter requesting a licence and callsign (Generic letter requires customisation)

Renewals
- Licence renewal is due annually by June.
- Email CA with the renewal request, and they will invoice as per the licence request.
Licence fees (multi-year)
There is an option to pay for a multiyear licence for a maximum of five (5) years. Note: licence fees are due by June every year.
